John McSherrySeven pitches into the Expos and Reds game in Cincinnati home plate umpire John McSherry collapses. He died within an hour of his collapse. McSherry worked the NLDS in 1981 and 1995, NLCS in 1974, 1978, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1988, 1990, and 1992, World Series in 1977 and 1987, and the All-Star game in 1977, 1982, and 1991. McSherry was also the home plate umpire during game 6 of the 1977 World Series where Reggie Jackson hit three home runs.
