On This Day In Baseball History: April 3, 1989

Seattle Mariners 19-year old rookie Ken Griffey, Jr doubles off of Oakland’s Dave Stewart in his first major league at bat. He’ll go on to hit 630 homers, drive in 1,836 rbi, be awarded 10 gold gloves and one MVP, and be elected to 13 All-Star teams.
