On This Day In Baseball History: April 23, 1999

Fernando Tatis #23

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Fernando Tatis becomes the first player in Major League baseball history to hit two grand slams in the same inning. Tatis hit both homers off of Dodgers Chan Ho Park. Tatis’ eight RBIs sets a new record for most RBIs in one inning. 1999 will be by far the most productive year of an otherwise unspectacular career. He’ll go on to hit 34 homers, drive in 107 runs, while batting .298.
