On This Day In Baseball History: April 25, 1976

 

Chicago Cubs outfielder Rick Monday takes away an American flag from a father and son who jumped a fence at Dodger stadium and where about to set it on fire in protest. Monday served in the Marines. Monday played 19 years in the Majors hitting 241 homers. Monday is most well known for being the first player ever taken in MLB’s first amateur draft in 1965.
