Maddux vs Clemens

At Minute Maid Park in Houston Greg Maddux and Roger Clemens take the mound becoming the fifth time a pair of 300-game winners face off. Maddux had 305 and Clemens 329. Maddux’s Cubs ended up beating Clemens and the Astros 3-2. Maddux would go on to win 49 more games giving him a career total of 355, eighth most all-time. Clemens would win 25 more games for a total of 354, ninth all-time. Maddux, of course, is going to be inducted into the Hall of Fame this summer. For the foreseeable future Clemens does not look as if he’ll get enough votes.
