Jim Palmer


19-year old Baltimore rookie Jim Palmer earns his first Major League win by throwing three and two-thirds innings. Palmer also added a two-run homer off of Jim Bouton to help secure a 7-5 Orioles victory. Palmer would go on to win 267 more games, eight times winning 20 or more in a season, leading the league in wins three times (1975-1977), ERA twice (1973 & 1975), complete games once (1977), shutouts once(1975), innings pitched four times (1970, 1976-1978), won three Cy Youngs (1973, 1975-1976), and was selected to six All-Star teams. He will be elected into the Hall of Fame in 1990.
