On This Day In Baseball History: May 17, 1970

Hank Aaron 2

At Cincinnati’s Crosley Field 36-year old Braves outfielder Hank Aaron collects his 3,000 career hit. He becomes the ninth player in history to reach the 3,000 hit milestone but is the first to have 500 home runs to go along with his 3,000 hits. Aaron will be joined by Willie Mays, Eddie Murray, and Rafael Palmeiro in one of baseball’s most exclusive clubs. They may soon be joined by Alex Rodriguez.
