On This Day In Baseball History: June 21, 1964

Jim Bunning

Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Jim Bunning becomes the first modern pitcher to toss a no-hitter in both leagues when he throws a perfect game to beat the Mets  6-0. The future Kentucky Senator tossed his first no-hitter as a Tiger, flustering the Red Sox. Bunning would be selected to the 1964 AL All-Star team and finish with the best K/BB ratio (4.76 to 1).
