John Franco

New York Mets closer John Franco earns his 253rd career save, passing Dave Righetti for most by a lefty. Franco would finish the strike shortened season by leading the NL in saves with 30 and 7th in Cy Young voting. He would play 10 more years and accumulate a total of 424 career saves, currently 4th most all-time and 2 more than Billy Wagner who has the second most saves by a lefty.
