Randy Myers

Baltimore Orioles closer Randy Myers picks up his 300th career save when he strikes out the side against Philadelphia at Camden Yards. Myers, who became known as one of Cincinnati’s “Nasty Boys” with Rob Dibble and Norm Charlton, became the 9th reliever and only the second lefty to collect 300 saves. Myers will finish the 1997 season with 45 saves, most in the AL, and a 1.51 ERA in 59 2/3 innings. He will save 47 more games to finish his career with 347, 11th all-time.
