On This Day In Baseball History: July 7, 2012

Bryce Harper

Nationals 19-year old outfielder Bryce Harper becomes the youngest position player in history to make an All-Star team when he is named as Giancarlo Stanton‘s replacement. Harper, who would walk and strikeout in his two plate appearances, was slightly older than Dwight Gooden and Bob Feller who are the youngest players ever to be MLB All-Stars. He would finish the 2012 by winning the NL Rookie of the Year.
