New York Yankee captain and fan favorite Derek Jeter collects his 3,000 hit when he homers off of Tampa Bay’s David Price. The homer was one of Jeter’s five hits on the historic day. He became the 28th player to join the 3,000 hit club, that has since welcomed former teammate Alex Rodriguez. The Captain would finish his career with 3,465 hits, 6th most all-time behind only Tris Speaker (3,514), Stan Musial (3,630), Hank Aaron (3,771), Ty Cobb (4,189), and Pete Rose (4,256). He is one of three players who’s 3,000 hit was a homer: Wade Boggs and Alex Rodriguez.
