New York Yankee’s center fielder Joe DiMaggio‘s record 56 game hitting streak comes to an end as he goes 0-for-3 with a walk. During his streak he batted .408 (91-223), scored 56 runs, hit 16 doubles, 4 triples, 15 homers, drove in 55 rbi, walked 21 times while striking out only 5 times. DiMaggio unfazed by the ending of the streak promptly goes to work on a 17-game hitting streak the next day putting together an unbelievable streak of hitting safely in 73 of 74 games.
