Don Mattingly

 

New York Yankee first baseman Don Mattingly homers in his 8th consecutive game tying Dale Long‘s major league record set back in 1956. “Donnie Baseball” would finish the 1987 season with 30 home runs, he’d also make the All-Star team, win a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger award and finish 7th in the AL MVP voting. In 1993 Ken Griffey, Jr will join Long and Mattingly when he goes yard in 8 consecutive games as a Mariner.
