On This Day In Baseball History: September 4, 2002

 

After the Oakland Athletics blew an 11-run lead to the Royals, first baseman Scott Hatteberg hits a walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning extending the A’s modern day American League record winning streak to 20 games. The homer sent the 55,528 fans at the Coliseum and Hatteberg’s teammates into a frenzy.
