The Texas Rangers came into the league in 1961 as the Washington Senators. Over the years they have been known as the Washington Senators (1961-1971) and as we know them today the Texas Rangers (1972-Present). The organization has made 6 playoff appearances, won 2 pennants, but never a world championship. They have retired  numbers. Manager Johnny Oates (26) and Nolan Ryan (34).
