Bob Gibson

St. Louis Cardinals ace and NL CY Young and MVP Bob Gibson strikes out 17 Tigers breaking a World Series record previously held by Sandy Koufax. Gibson’s 17 is not only the World Series record but a postseason record. Gibson’s Cardinals would eventually lose the Series to Mickey Lolich, Denny McLain the Tigers though Gibson still holds the record for most K’s in a World Series game.
