Brooklyn Dodgers catcher Roy Campanella wins his first MVP award. Campanella beat out Stan Musial by hitting .325, scoring 90 runs, hitting 33 homers, driving in 108 runs, and throwing out an MLB leading 69% of base stealers. Campanella would win the award again in 1953 & 1955 making him one of ten players to win the award three times or more.
