Orel Hershiser

 

Los Angeles Dodgers ace Orel Hershiser wins the NL CY Young award unanimously. With the honor he becomes the first, and to date, only player to ever win a CY Young, LCS MVP, and World Series MVP in the same season. Hershiser went 23-8 with a 2.26 ERA. He completed a league leading 15 games and tossed a league leading 8 shutouts. He also led the league with 267 innings pitched. His brilliant season carried over to the postseason where he pitched a combined 42 2/3 innings, twice beating the Athletics in the World Series compiling a 1.05 ERA.
