Los Angeles Dodgers rookie sensation Fernando Valenzuela wins the NL CY Young Award making him the first rookie to ever win the CY Young. Valenzuela edged Tom Seaver by 3 points 70-67. Valenzuela led the NL in complete games (11), shutouts (8), innings pitched (192) and strikeouts (180). He also won the NL Rookie of the Year award.
