Zack Greinke

Kansas City Royals 25-year old ace Zack Greinke beats out Felix Hernandez for AL CY Young. Greinke’s 2.16 ERA is more than a third run better than the second place Hernandez. Greinke became just the second pitcher, joining Steve Carlton, to ever win the CY Young while playing for a last place team. His Royals won just 65 games, of which Greinke earned 16 of those victories. The second best ERA by a Royals starter was 4.73 and the second most strikeouts behind Greinke’s 242 was 106. It’s safe to say that Greinke was the lone bright spot on this bad Royals team.
