Dick Allen


Philadelphia Phillies first year third baseman Dick Allen or Richie Allen as he was known then receives 18 of 20 votes on his way to winning NL Rookie of the Year. Allen’s rookie season is one of the top rookie seasons in the history of the game. Allen led the league in runs scored (125), triples (13), and total bases (352). He also collected 201 hits while batting .318 with 29 home runs and 91 rbi. Allen finished seventh in the NL MVP voting behind Ken Boyer, Johnny Callison, Bill White, Frank Robinson, Joe Torre, and Willie Mays.
