Frank Robinson

 

Cincinnati Reds 21-year old outfielder Frank Robinson is selected as the NL Rookie of the Year by being named on every ballot. Robinson led the league in runs scored with 122. He also set a new record for most homers by a rookie with 38, a mark that would stand until Mark McGwire hit 49 during his 1987 rookie campaign. Robinson would go on to have a Hall of Fame career by hitting 586 homers (9th all-time), driving in 1812 runs (20th all-time), scoring 1829 runs (16th all-time), with a career .294 batting average.
