On This Day In Baseball History: December 5, 1990

Toronto Blue Jays trade first baseman Fred McGriff and shortstop Tony Fernandez to the Padres for second baseman Roberto Alomar and outfielder Joe Carter. Both Alomar and Carter were instrumental in the Blue Jays back-to-back World Series titles in ’92 and ’93, with Carter, of course, hitting the game 6 series winning walk off in ’93. McGriff carried his weight in San Diego leading the league in homers in 1992.
