The New York Mets trade Randy Myers to the Cincinnati Reds for John Franco. The trade seem to have benefited both teams as Myers teamed up with Rob Dibble and Norm Charlton to form the Nasty Boys and Franco would go on to play 14 years for the Mets becoming the franchise leader in saves with 276, 116 saves in front of second place Armando Benitez‘s 160.
